A short extract from a story that was never completed…
Starting from the door and spreading outwards in a glimmering, purple hue, the castle slowly reveals itself. Luscious vegetation gives way to tall windows and crumbly, grey brickwork in an uncanny, etherial way. Tree trunks transform into large stone towers, capped by sharp-pointed turrets, reaching upwards towards the soft azure sky.
The surrounding air is choked by small, floating particles that shimmer gently in a similar amethyst colour to the house, intensified by the golden sunlight. Soon the whole structure is visible, poised like a barren fortress amongst an otherwise idyllic landscape.
